If you are a person that has gone to a chiropractor, there is a good chance that you are trying to make sure that your adjustment lasts as long as possible. This is because you spent time and money getting the adjustment done and because with the adjustment completed, your spine and bone system will feel good. However, as you move around, you are subjected to the same environmental factors that threw your spine out of alignment. This will cause your spine to return to what it was before. Here are some tips for maintaining your chiropractic adjustment.
1. Avoid Strenuous Activity Right After Your Adjustment
Your body needs time to settle into its adjustment. This means that you should get up from the table where the adjustment was performed carefully, without contorting your body into weird shapes that could throw your alignment off immediately. Wait a few hours before doing anything strenuous like playing a sport or going to the gym. However, you should try to walk for five to fifteen minutes right after your adjustment to give your body some time to get used to moving with the adjustment. You should absolutely do this if you are going to have to ride in a car for an extended period of time because then your spine could fall back out of alignment.
After those few hours, your body should be able to handle some more rigorous activity and you ought to be able to do whatever you want.
2. Use Good Posture
The next thing that you should do is try to maintain your posture. The reason for this is that you need to keep your spine relatively straight and not curved or hunched over your computer. You can help watch your posture by having people take pictures of you periodically during the day so that you can see that your spine is hunched. You can also buy a piece of tech that you wear on your bra strap or on the collar of your shirt that senses whether or not you are slumping and buzzes if you are. This will help remind you to sit up and practice good posture.
